International Animation Development in Jerusalem

The Jerusalem Film & Television Fund

The Jerusalem Film & Television Fund of the Jerusalem Development Authority sets out to promote two core values in the field of Israeli animation: first, to encourage independent and professional creation, and second, to promote the animation industry and its members. The Fund sets out to establish Jerusalem as a center of the animation industry through several stages: setting up animation studios throughout the city, supporting Israeli animation productions, and bringing esteemed productions from abroad to carry out work in Jerusalem. Those activities have proven that the success of Israeli artists in leading animation companies abroad- in the fields of art, content, and technology- may also be implemented in Israel.

Last summer the Fund advanced to the next level in making Jerusalem a key venue in animation discourse and introduced the Hop, Skip & a Jump - a unique course for developing and producing original Israeli animation content in collaboration with international animation houses. This is the second edition of the course in which the main goal is to create close working relationships and business partnerships with these companies. The vision is to create original Israeli content for foreign animation houses and to produce some of these developments in Jerusalem, not only as service providers, but as partners in creation and copyrights.

The participants in the course will be professionally accompanied by the finest artists from Israel and abroad, and will benefit from personal acquaintance with decision makers in world-leading animation companies: Disney Channels, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon - Ananey Communications.

The Fund attributes great importance to the cooperation with the animators, scriptwriters, and producers unions as essential to high production quality. In addition, the Fund sees the Jerusalem Cinematheque as a home for the Hop, Skip & a Jump activities.

The first workshop will take place at the Jerusalem Film Festival and will include professional workshops, master classes, and a pitching event.
