Disturbing the Peace

USA 2016 | 83 minutes | English | Hebrew, Arabic, English subtitles

Palestinians and Israelis, former enemy combatants, set out on a joint journey for peace. This movie documents its protagonists' transformation from soldiers on the battlefield to peace activists. While they face opposition from their societies, which consider them traitors, another war in Gaza looms.

Stephen Apkon's documentary transcends its local context to tell a universal story about the human ability to see beyond the narratives we tend to accept as reality, and about our aspiration for freedom, recognition and fraternity. The protagonists' journey demonstrates our potential to free ourselves of narratives that no longer serve us and create a new vision for our societies.
